Overcast and crappy looking out there this Xmas day, but it's supposed to be high 40s, good enough to ride for a bit in.

November 2020 update.  With COVID well in its third wave and only state guidelines and restrictions in place, check with the state's requirements before heading across state lines, as the situation may change on a daily basis.

Nevada governor is recommending that if you do not need leave home, then don't.  Sounds crappy, but it's better than shelter-in-place! 

As motorcyclists, we cherish our two-wheeled excursions.  Take extra precautions now more than ever.  Keep hand sanitizer and drinking water on your bike and if you plan on riding for many hours, pack food to take along.  Anything you can do to reduce the risk of interacting with others would be wise.

This thing loves us all.  The sooner we stop spreading its love, the sooner I get to doing more important things, like not having to write boring 'be careful' posts.

Heading there this weekend.

kinda sounds like the same thing from Portola to Quincy to Bucks Lake. Was there on Wednesday and Caltrans was nice enough to be doing tar snakes that day. Up to Bucks Lake was sandy and dirty. On the way back, NDOT was nice enough to be doing painting...made for an interesting day of riding. And holy cow...the burnt areas from the recent fires. Good Gawd!

Between Sierra City and Downieville.  I nearly crashed there yesterday.  There are a couple of marked one-lane zones where they're doing construction improvements, but you won't know about the third at Ladie's Canyon Creek bridge <== Google Maps image.

They've added a fresh layer of concrete, so you'll bump over it coming and going from the blacktop surfaces, plus they've put some sort of releasing agent or sand on it.  Two of us had a little or a lotta wobble going over it. 

Take your enthusiasm level down a notch or two there.  Treat it like a sand zone and you should be fine.

They should for a year old fuel pump.  My original lasted 110K miles and 18 years.  The second used one was already mostly worn out.  It never failed me out of the road, so I was fortunate. 

I leaned my lesson though.  When it comes to electrical stuff, replace, replace, replace. 

Got a later start than expected, but it was so nice out all day.  The only problem with riding later in the day on a day like today, is that there are a lot of other people out enjoying the weather.  There was a lot more traffic to navigate, slowing and taking some enjoyment out of the ride.

As we got started, we noticed a lot of motorcyclists out enjoying a ride.  One of them was our very own Papasmurf.  Sorry we missed riding with you today.

With just a bit of a breeze heading home, our group of three hit our marks as we needed to hit them, and made the most of it all.  Even with numerous LEO encounters.  We had no guilt because we rode like Big Cat today.  Too late in the season for shenanigans, just go out and ride at The Pace speed, stay in a tire groove and don't get flustered by pulling over more often than normal to get clear road ahead.

Man, do I feel refreshed!  Thanks SSA team!

Guess you learned your lesson about used electrical parts

I had the fuel pump slowly die on the Kawi, luckily the dealer warrantied it even though the bike was over 1 year old. Saved me $600!
