Your 1198 was designed to be ridden.  I'm glad you are using it instead of putting it behind glass for display purposes only.  All of our bikes were designed to do laps on a closed course (They just stuck lights on them to trick spouses into thinking they are for commuting)  Good for you for using it the way it was designed and pushing your limits in a safe place!
