Post here if you're going.  Although after last week's group of riders, you'll have some big shoes to fill.   ;)

This is a north ride.  Here is the planned route.

Ride takes us over to Auburn, CA, down along the eastern side of Folsom Lake, over to Placerville and back to Auburn.  Depending on what the group decides, we may change some of the ride to include Mosquito Ridge Road, which is just outside of Forest Hill.  MRR is a tight technical road, also planned for later in the SSA weekly ride schedule.

Temps in Reno are expected once again to drop this weekend to around 62, which typically means, with humidity, the Folsom area will feel about 10 degrees warmer.

I'll post more about this ride later.

Sorry I missed last weeks ride. Went with a friend to look at a bike but he got cold feet and decided not to buy  >:( . I'll definitely be there this week though no matter what! See you Sunday  :)

GreenMachine

:D  No worries.  We had a great group, that worked out perfect for our lunch plans last week.

Will you be coming out tonight for SSA Bike Night?

Being a new guy, I guess it is my responsibility to ask the dumb questions. Is the meeting place for the Salmon Falls ride at the same place as last weeks ride.  Also is the meeting time the same.

GreenMachine

:newbie  I guess this qualifies as your official SSA hazing!  ;D

Good question bocole,

Unless otherwise noted, the 2011 SSA Ride Schedule* page shows the meet up locations based on North v. South rides.  But it's probably not a bad idea for me to paste it in here as well, just for good measure.

FYI: Northerly rides are marked with a *N* Leave from Reno @ Starbucks on N. McCarran Blvd by IHOP off I-80
Southerly rides are marked with a *S* Leave from Starbucks on Topsy Ln. in Carson City.
Arrive early.  We turn keys from the appropriate Starbucks at the times specified below or as otherwise noted for the specific ride.
       Start times for

    May-June = 9:30 AM
    July-Aug = 8:00 AM
    Sept-Oct = 9:30 AM
...

Well I didn't mean to create more work for you!  I'm not the most computer savvy guy in the world, now that I know where to look, I might be able to find it.  Thanks

No sweat.  I'm fairly adept at this Web stuff and saw and opportunity to be a smarta**.  I take as good as I give.

The weather is shaping up to be perfect for this ride.  70* in Sacramento, 59* in Reno where we won't be. It's new to our schedule and we don't have a ride scheduled for the following weekend due to AMA racing at Infineon.  No matter what, we'll have some fun twisties to ride after the long boring ride to and from Auburn, if that's the way we decide to go home.

We may encounter some sprinkles coming home later tomorrow afternoon.  I think we'll be able to avoid anything more than that, but come prepared.

We'll have one other rider joining us in California when we arrive in Auburn tomorrow morning.

I'm canceling today's ride due to  :rainday , but I'm going anyway.  I want to see what this route is all about.  I'll be at *bucks here in a little bit.

Damn, I should have ridden yesterday in the AM!  All the current weathercams show overcast conditions blanketing the area we are planned to ride and snowing in S. Lake Tahoe area.  Not a great day for riding and not worth the risk.

Don't feel bad Green Machine May is always a tough Month to start riding.  Everyone has Spring Fever and can't wait.  Way to keep it going.    :thumbup

I about fell out of my chair!  Who's this guy ^^^^???  :P

I called SkydiverDCM in Auburn to let him know I changed my mind.  He didn't have anything going anyway, other that yard work.  Boring!  I pulled up in Auburn and we both started laughing.  It's as cold as sh*t, threatening rain, but WTH, let's go.

Salmon Falls road turned out to be lined with ranch homes, traffic and a little skinny.  :thumbdown So we turned around to head back up SF and had two other sportbikes pull up behind us at the light.  Uh-oh!  DCM and I did a disappearing act on them.  We stopped at the end of the road and waited for the two riders, b/c DCM had a leg cramp.  "Where'd they go?" "Hell if I know."  Turns out the two younger riders were newbs, one better than the other.  They both were in aw.  DCM and I replied in stereo, "No man, we're not that fast."  :dunno

Only got brief mist or drizzling snow at the very worst late in the day, but mostly just cloudy.  MRR was a lot of fun.  The tar snakes are still cold, there was virtually nobody else out today, and the US Forestry Service has cleared and swept.  We completed the ride with some pizza then split off.  But since there was still some daylight remaining and I-80 is oh-so-dull, I made a detour off to Grass Valley for some hwy 49 fun.  Whoohoo!

Here's the route taken today and below are some teaser pics linked to today's picture gallery.

Wow G.  Thanks for the pics.  That are is so Majestic.  When it's nice weather it's tough to get any better views and road.  The one with the bridge is so awesome.  Man It's great.
