A friend from high school has been talking about a Yosemite trip, and the "fun is in the journey" aspect of being on a bike piqued her interest (her dad is a photographer in Oregon, and she's been known to join in on some pretty cool photo trips).  Jealous of my 60mpg, she started using my scooter to commute to work and that gave her the two-wheel bug.  Now she wants something more capable for keeping up with higher-speed traffic but also being lightweight and beginner-friendly.

And yes, her MSF class is in 10 days.   :D

That's awesome!  When I started with SSA many years ago there was interest in doing a Yosemite trip, but I know of only one where riders actually fulfilled the trip and that was last year.  DR and I did it as an overnight ride, where we stayed at a friends cabin near Mammoth.  Yosemite is like no other place.

Hope she really takes to riding and gets some nice safe armored riding gear.  You'll have a ton of new horizons.
It's about taking in the most corners to your destination, not about the shortest, quickest route.

She's got everything but her boots, which are on back-order.  We should be picking the bike up tomorrow.

I look forward to nice rides.  Then I'll ride with you guys when I want to go fast.   :P

I wouldn't recommend that day for a first timer.  There are no groups, which means the racers will be passing him close.

I'm glad you mentioned that, dub!  I would have died.   :angel

Does Precision ever offer classes for beginning track riders?  If so, have you guys gone to any of them?  I'm curious how they are, seems like a class might be a good way for me to break into track riding...

dub

Yes!  They offer classroom instruction for C group riders and an instructor will work with you one-on-one every session, all day long if you want, all for no additional cost.
