OK. So I made an observation last track day and I thought I would share it.

Last track day it was WINDY!!! Many an EZ met its maker that day. Except mine. So I started to wonder why and I think I found the secret.

My EZ up was anchored at the bottom of the legs (where the stake holes are). As the wind blew, the lattice structure of the EZ up was able to do its job as the force of the wind was pulling ON THE LEGS of the canopy.

Now, the ones that were destroyed, were all anchored with tie down straps to the supporting folding lattice up high. This means that when the wind blew, the force was applied to this structure, which was not designed to take these forces. All the destroyed ez ups had their folding lattice break.

So...my experiment. Try keeping the support tie downs on the legs, and not the folding lattice work.

Sorry in10sive.

My EZ-up on the grid was anchored with 2 weights on each leg ( Our real nice Go-Kart tires we've built )  One was anchored to the base with a screw and other with a tie down.  I feel it just caught a gust and it was over.  I've order the new oval shaped rods from Ez-up yesterday.  $19.95 a piece.  Still cheaper than a new tent.

Sometimes if the wind catches it just right it's still a sail and there is nothing you can do. I was really surprised but it did happen.

but see...you still had the tie down on it.  You should have only relied on the tire on the base :P  ;D

Oh well...mine survived....three around me blew to bits.
