First Ride!

Spent a few hours on the new bike today, and man...  I just want to ride more!   

The Ninja 650 is intimidating at low speeds due to its torque, but after 2nd gear it's so smooth and natural.  Honestly, I felt like I was on a faster version of the scooter, but one that can turn a lot sharper and handle bumps better.  I'm hoping to have enough experience on it by the time the MSF is here that I'll be able to get that much more out of the class.  My fear of actually riding is completely gone; now it's fear of unpredictable drivers and unpredictable road surfaces...

Thanks for all the advice up to this point - I am addicted, and the bike is definitely a mistress now.  My wife named it "bitch".

Be careful about female cycles.  My first two sportbikes were females, and they both spit me off (once off Monitor, the other off Ebbits), breaking more bones & ego than imaginable.  Talk about quick and painful divorce 

I shopped and shopped, and finally found a guy-bike.  MilleR is as sensible and unemotional and as forgiving as can be.  So far, anyway   

Enjoy the beginnings of your learning curve ... it never stops!  Hope to ride with you this summer!

Wow, sorry to hear about the pain inflicted by your ex's!     I'm kind of leaning toward a computer name, like maybe the girl from Tron that became real.  I think her name was Quorra.  Of course, I'm a Firefly fan and really liked Kaylee (the ship's engineer).  Kaylee seemed friendly and unlikely to toss me over a guardrail, so that might be it.  Still not sure...

I hope to ride with everyone this summer too!  So far I've spent nearly ten hours on the bike in two days.  I'm tired, but certainly more confident.  Now I just need to crash so I can tone down some of that confidence...

Nice.  That's her.

I finally figured out the bike's name:  "Indi", short for "Indiri".  That's the name my wife always uses in the video games we play, and her nickname around the house is "Indiri".  So far I enjoy riding Indi almost as much as I enjoy riding Indiri.

Female bikes are fine! Just a little testy. The worst any of my Ryokos have done is have a small fire start on top of the engine
