I finally have a free Sunday to ride.  And what luck, it's the annual Solstice Ride!

What's the status, GM, will you be leading us?

My only suggestion is maybe we take Hwy 1 down the coast a little and take a different route East back through the mountains instead of backtracking on 20.  Maybe Mtn View Rd/Hwy 253?

My dog of 11 years has taken ill.  I wouldn't be able to go for more than a short ride.  An all day ride like that would be too hard on the old boy and kenneling would be like betraying my most loyal friend.

However, I like your idea of making a loop.  That's how I always preferred doing those coastal runs too.  And I've been on 253 before, once.  The single lane section that starts a little ways in from Manchester was so riddled with potholes I debated turning back, but continued.  Thought I was going to blow out my front suspension.  When it finally opened up to decent road, it was like a beautiful oasis of mountain turns.  Deserted for the most part too.  Good and bad.  You want to enjoy it, but know if you get caught out and crash, it'll be a while before anyone knows about it.

Sorry I'll miss you on this one Wiles.  May I interest you in a substitute ride up to VC instead or something under 300 miles?
It's about taking in the most corners to your destination, not about the shortest, quickest route.

Well that's too bad.  Sorry to hear about your pup; hope he gets better.

I did my own Solstice Ride today.  Met up with some SCR folks to headed down to Yosemite.

556.5 miles, 11:05 ride time, crossing the Sierras 4 times.

And now I hate you!

I'm stuck in a server room doing hardware upgrades.  Fun.  Fun.

Tell me more about how much a missed!   :rant

Just be glad your server rooms are here and not in Washington.  Nothing's worse than flying all the way to Seattle just to find that the rack problem being reported isn't even a hardware problem (somebody plugged a network cable in from one switch back into itself, creating a network loop).

Sorry to hear about your dog!  We just went through the sad process with our old dog a couple of years ago.   :(  Now we have two young pups that have way more energy than I do.   :D
