I was in Baja last month, here is an abbreviated report. It's kind of short on the details, mostly just the pictures I took.

As usual, looking back I didn't take as many pictures as I wish I had. Such is life.

Arrival.

Bikes lined up at the hotel, ready for battle.

Tom fixing the clutch line he broke before the ride even began, with plenty of backup.

Day 0 - 22 Day Trail to Window Rock

Some did 22 Day Trail, some did Window Rock, still others said, 'why not both?!'.

Mark and Dima making it to the top of a rocky little hill climb that was a lot more tricky than it looked.

Rob crashed at the very bottom.

Here he comes.

Panorama of desert scenery.

Dima piloting the beastly 640 up another tricky little climb. Less rocky, but steeper than the first.

Day 1 - BOLA to San Ignacio

Will packed everything including his neighbor's kitchen sink.

I wonder if that had something do with with burying his rear end in the sand?

Riding on the beach in Baja really is a super cool experience. It was definitely something I was looking forward to on this trip. I got to do it a few times and it did not disappoint

Rebekah likes to play around with the portrait settings on her phone while we wait.

Rebekah is always the one taking the pictures, so it was nice to get a good one of her on the beach.

Day 2 - San Ignacio to Muluge

You can see that little out and back on the route South of El Patrocinio. We did a little exploring trying to make our way across the Mesas and hook up with the high road further south. It didn't work out.

I took zero pictures this day. Oops.

Day 3 - Rest day ride around Bahía Concepción

Some slept in and had a lazy ride to get tacos in flip flops. Others went on a day ride around the bay. I almost didn't go because it was a lot of slab to get to the South end of the bay, 73 miles, the most we would ride in one day all trip. But I'm glad I went because riding up the peninsula was awesome.

Dima flying the drone.

Bikes at Hotel Terrazas.

Day 4 - Muluge to San Juanico

This was the day my mousse burnt up after the 47 miles of slab down to MX1 from Mulege.

This sandy 2-track went on a for a little while, then dumped us out on the beach near the point at La Bocana where we rode 20 miles on the beach into San Juanico. Sally taking in the view:

Day 5 - San Juanico to San Ignacio

Another cool Baja experience, riding the salt flats through El Datil.

More of Rebekah's Desert Portrait Studio while we waited for Dima to catch up after flying the drone.

Day 6 - San Ignacio to BOLA via Green Door Trail

Taking a break on Green Door Trail while the going was still easy. There is a trail that goes East/West, but then you turn North and it's just making your way through the washes slaloming cactuses.

Once again we were the last group to arrive back to BOLA.

The next two days were spent making our way back North, which included the bastion of free markets that is the border vendors.

Was wondering what you were up to in Baja.  Like the idea of a shorter loop to get a feel for it.  Going all the way to Cabo and back would be one hell of a haul.  Glad you had a successful trip, that mousse really melted.  Anyone run the tubliss setup?

Baja.  Tagged!

A the victory beer!

And a lot of eating.

Fond memories I'm sure.
It's about taking in the most corners to your destination, not about the shortest, quickest route.

We rode for 7 days, ~1150 miles. The tip and back is more like 2500 miles or so, and takes more like 3 weeks, at a leisurely pace you would actually enjoy.

Yes, several people ran Tubliss. There were some punctures, fixed with plugs no problem. One guy's started to leak a little bit, but instead of fucking around with it in the field he just had to re-inflate like 2 times per day. I don't think Tubliss is the best choice for long dual sport trips just because of it's complexity. I'll probably just go back to good ol' tubes for dual sporting.
