Riding a lot more with groups this year

Hey all!  Some of you might remember me, some I don't think I've even met yet.  I figured I would re-introduce myself for the 2019 season.  My name is Eric, I've been riding for years but really picked it up in my 40's.  These days as long as the roads aren't covered in snow or ice I'll ride (I almost forgot what that was like, stupid 2019 winter weather).

I want to join in on a lot more group rides this year.  My kids are all teenagers now and have decided that they don't like hanging out with family anymore, so my time on the weekends is actually mine again!    :laughing

I started riding the street 6 or 7 years ago, it was nothing but dirt before that.  My knees are getting tired of the off-road stuff so I basically ride the street full time.  My first street bike was a Ninja 650 that I rode for almost 40,000 miles and sold to a co-worker who wanted to get into riding.  Reno Kawasaki was awesome and let me demo ride a few bikes, and I settled on a new Ninja 650.   :o  It's geared perfectly for commuting, which I do basically every day in town, but it's still got legs to have fun on the weekend.  I got it at the tail end of last summer and just crossed 5,000 miles before Reno turned into a city in Alaska.

Anyhow, hope to see you all on some rides this year!

Yep.  If you see that one being ridden around town like an idiot, it's not my fault [anymore].   :P

Congratulations Eric!  And welcome again!

Love the green.   ;D   Did you consider the Ninja 1000 or H2 SX?  Not that there's a need for speed, but both do two-up well from what I hear.

They're not for me either, unless I could figure out a way to make the riding position more like my bikes and less like a touring bike.

It's about taking in the most corners to your destination, not about the shortest, quickest route.

You're always welcome on our rides!

I understand Dragon and 22slow will be going to T-hill a bunch this year, if you're interested in doing some more of that as well.

I considered the Ninja 1000, but it sits a bit weird for my taste.  I actually prefer something between the ZX6R and the Ninja 1000 as far as riding position is concerned.  They changed the geometry of the 650 in 2017, and with their extended reach seat it makes it about perfect. I had to get green this time; it's hard to be part of Team Green on a white bike, lol.

Thunder Hill would be awesome.  I have the trailer and the setup to do it right these days!
