At least they are honest that it's about revenue. Do you know what California does with its OHV revenue? Hires law enforcement to patrol OHV areas and shake down the riders for more revenue!

wait...let me see if I get this right...the STATE is going to charge ME to ride my bike on FEDERAL land?

Unbelievable!! What is happening to our "free" country?? Nothing surprises me anymore. I guess 1.2 trillion isn't enough to ask for. They must need some more bailout money.

If you'd like to write your wonderful Nevada Senators, here

And my favorite Senator of all!!!..............

I'll be sending them a message. Probably won't work but it won't hurt.  :-\

No they are just going to charge you to title and register it. I have no idea what would happen if say, a BLM ranger caught you riding an unregistered vehicle on BLM land. In CA they would cite you under state law, same as national forest rangers.

next thing they will tell us we have to register and title our horses and put a green sticker on them too.
might as well change it from Nevada to East California

Just so you guys and gals know, it hasn't been passed....YET. Write your senators and tell them how you feel. That is their job to represent "the people".

The very last sentence of the article....
QuoteThe bill goes to the Senate floor for a vote. If it passes, it will move to the Assembly.

You have no idea what it's like living here in CA! This is why I do most of my riding in NV.  My friend just got a new bike unloaded it at my house (he has no garage) and he got a ticket for testing/riding his dirtbike across the street into the forest.  They hassled me once for not having my registration (I did have my green sticker).  I asked him if anyone actually carries their registration papers with them while riding.  All I'm saying is they are VERY STRICT here in South Lake Tahoe.

Your horse will NEVER get a green sticker.  Not unless it can go DAYS without crapping, and survive on nothing but water.

just to be a jerk about it, I like one aspect of a change to registering/titling off road bikes. Not having a title seems like it makes it much easier (foolproof?)  to steal a bike and sell it with no worry that anyone is going to check the VIN number. Yearly registration I could do without but I would like to have a title and require title transfer on sale of a bike. This would at least prevent honest folks from accidentally buying a stolen bike.

Why, do you have a stolen bike. You know my friends bike was stolen. Maybe I should come over and look at your bikes. What do you have over there, huh huh...

Yeah so with title/registration, thieves would just part out stolen bikes instead of sell them complete.

I bought my dirt bike in Nevada and got an MSO (Manufacturer's Statement of Origin) for it. That's all a seller would need to ask for doing his due diligence. I bought my track bike in California and got the original owner's MSO with it. Titles? We don't need no steenking titles!

If someone buys a stolen bike it's probably because he's looking the other way.
