Just to clarify something, I in know way agree with what the CHP said to your buddy (I hope people didn't think I did).  Like you YZ, I'm a large fan of discretion and I believe in the spirit of a law and the intent of a law.  Not always the letter of it.  I wouldn't stand for any officer talking to me like that and I wouldn't act like that to anyone.

So with that, on a quick note, a buddy and I (weather permitting) will be riding Hwy 89 from Truckee to Nevada City on Sat.  If anyone would like to go let me know.

Wanna go, but can't this w/e.  Made alternative plans due to unpredictable weather. But would love to ride with some SSA riders in the future.  Going to Infineon coming up.

Watch the gravel & sand around the Hwy 49 summit; some of those 15MPH bends are sand boxes.  Have fun.

Not going back on what I said about CA cutting low to make money, I still believe they are. Being a truck driver for 13 years I also believe that most states in hard  economic times tighten down and start busting people for the slightest violations. I've even heard (I believe on this forum) that NV is cracking down on violaters. Hell ride hard have fun and pay the tickets. life is good.
