Nevada Motocross Park LLC is hoping to build a first rate Motocross Park for all riders, and to host racing events down here in Douglas County. It is planned on being located in the Pine Nuts by the Douglas Country Fairground. More info can be found at their website http://www.nevadamotocrosspark.com/.

I would like to see this happen, but I would be that there is a lot of Senior "Non in my backyard" people against this. I cry BULL! They already have monster truck pulls and rodeos and other events very near this location with NO noise of dust problems to the neighbors (not really any neighbors to complain really).

So if you are Dirty SSA Member, and support the idea of this park, go to the website and express your support of it! Better yet, call or write the Douglas County Commissioners and tell them you support the idea!

GO MOTOCROSS! :)

Pretty close. But it is also close to the fairgrounds where they have truck pulls, an annual motoX event and other 'loud' events. Their concern is 'dust' and noise. Some of the older, misguided seniors seem to think there would be no economic impact. They are completely ignorant to the fact that the track is watered, the provider has put up hay bales to absorb noise, and that the type of people attending the event would benefit the local hotels and eateries.

BUT...the squeeky wheel gets the grease and these FEW seniors will make enough noise to get their way unless we can get enough support FOR IT. There is no better place to put this than where they plan on putting it. They only plan on doing 6 test races this year too.

So do they have the green light for the 6 test races this year already or is that what the meeting is about tonight?

tonight is with Parks and Rec to get permission to use it's land for the 6 test events. So tonight they'll get a 'recommendation' from them, and Thursday they go before the county commissioners. If it doesn't go well tonight, it definitely won't go well with the commissioners. I'm going to start working the phone tomorrow too based on tonights meeting.

Have you tried to get any support from the racers at any of the other local tracks? Fernley, Stead? That would be where I would look.

n10sive

they have a website to garner support. People are weighing in from California too. So I'll let them try the other places. I live by the proposed track and I am for it...think it would be a good idea. My kids used to race in Carson before they shut that down. Since then they either had to go to Fernley or Honey Lake. The Carson venue drew good crowds. I am hoping if this park goes in that we can get the vintage races back in our area. Dick "Bugsy" Mann lives out here and puts those on.

Yeah, I saw their website. Looks like they are getting good support for it. Now if they can just get 1/3 of those people to show up at the meetings!  :D Good luck guys, it sounds like it would be a good thing for the area. Hopefully if they get the green light, they make it a nice facility.

the old people are already creating phony straw man arguments against it...so it should be interesting.

It's up and running and I saw something on the TV news.

There's a video at the bottom of this KTVN channel 2 web page.

Here's an article in the Record-Courier.

Right on! I see they gave it the green light.  8)

Down 395 thru Gardnerville, left at the light at the 7-11 south of town. Follow the signs to the Fairgrounds. On race day you will know you are headed in the right direction by the number of protesters holding signs along the road :D
