Monitor Pass conditions 5/6/09

Went up and over Monitor today. BEWARE!!!

Very spooky ride. Slippery tar snakes and lots of sand over the summit. Stopped with a few other bikes who were doing the same thing I was doing...and that was checking to see if we had flats. It was unanimous that the road was not in good shape right now.

It probably won't get much better until after some more rainfall, so if you plan on riding it this weekend or so, please ride careful.

Thanks for the update Dale! My other busa buddy (you met him once last summer)  and I were going to check it out tomorrow, Friday, but you saved us the trouble. We're meeting up with another rider who lives in Gardnerville at the Minden Stabucks at 9:30 Friday and plan on a low-lander ride through Wellington, then south to Bridgeport for lunch and back to Carson City via 395. Why don't you break away from the doldrums of gainful employment and join us!?

No one needs to even ask a question like that! You'd be more than welcome! Boring ride, but let's us clear the cobwebs, so to speak, until the passes and mountain routes are clear of sand and/or snow runoff!
And as a furhter road update, I just got back from a short one up the truck route and up and over down Geiger into Reno! That rain and wind did an excellent job! I mean, the entire route is as clean as you'd see it in July/August! Yippeee!
