Just looking for anyone who might want to plan a ride for Saturday August 15, 2009.
I thought about meeting at the Kietzkie and Virginia Starbucks (24) at 9:00 a.m. and then ride
to hwy 50 west in Carson City on up to Lake Tahoe/Spooner Summit to south shore Emerald Bay, then across west Tahoe, and return to Reno down Mt. Rose Hwy.
Make a stop for lunch somewhere in South Shore.  Emerald Bay stop too just to sight see a bit.

Anyone want to go or have ideas I'm all open for them.  Thanks.

I never really liked doing a lap around the lake.  West shore will have a lot of traffic and is pretty slow (pretty though) Look in our ride calendar and choose a route!

we did lap around lake and was backed up in traffic for 4 miles before tahoe city the road is rough as well.
you could ride 80 out to fernley to the track

I like to take laps around the lake in the spring when theres not much traffic and the roads are better than most of the other highways and its not to long of a ride.  Its fun but it does slow down a bit near the west shore.   If you happen to go and its gets late (according to the time you set it pry wont but anyways heads up to anyone) watch out for cops near the incline village and the sweeping look out turn, and even on the other side near galena (and not just one but around 5).  They said they do stings at night there (dont know how often) but my friend and I had to learn that the hard way especially with it being 45mph near Incline .  Never seen one before but it was 11pm and I guess they dont have much to do at that time at night.  I think its time for trackdays :).

I would recommend hwy 162 if you have the time.  Or just go to downiville if you dont.  That ride has definetly been my favorite but it does take a while on hwy 162.  I can try to get my buddy and I to go but its my Mom's birthday so I'd have to be back for dinner.

Hey Scott,

Allen and I are toying with going out to the track to hang out...maybe taste of the track if they are doing that.

I live in Tahoe. Northshore. You guys are totally right about the traffic. This time of the year is really crazy up here. So many tourists, constructions and polices around. All the time the traffic is stopped making me crazy.

I know all about the traffic.  I figured just ride to emerald bay and then turn around and go back and through mt rose hwy if 28 is open.  They had that sewer pipe break last week but I think it may be open now.

Traffic never bothered me; I'm patient and the CBR heats up just a tad but no biggy.

I still might do Tahoe if anyone doesn't mind just going as far as Emerald Bay and take a break at that rest stop then
return the direction we came and go thru hwy 28 to Mt Rose HWY down to Reno.

Any other ride suggestions I am up for if Tahoe isn't a popular one.  Just want to ride with some people saturday.
Temps this weekend in the low to mid 80's friday thru Monday.  Sounds good to me.   ;)

Emerald bay rest stop is really a state park and one of the most photographed natural areas on the planet,  That's a great place to rest and a great turn around spot to hit Mt Rose.

Go to Monitor and have lunch in Markleeville. That's one of the coolest rides ever.

Yes sir, I went on the monitor ride last weekend.  Was great.  I almost would like to ride to Mammoth Lakes as I did twice
when I had a Honda Silverwing.  I just might do it since it isn't really that far.
