How about riding some of the best turns/surfaces in the area? I have done this route before, and it is some of the best roads and turns you can get within one day's ride. We head up 80 to 89 north to 49 over Yuba Pass down past Downeyviile. Then we turn on Marysville Rd past Bullards Bar heading to Lake Oroville for lunch. we then head to Quincy via Rt 162/119 eventually returning on 70. Meet up at Starbucks @9:00?
If you never have been on 162/119, you're in for a treat ;).

I'm in if I can get new tires before then. I did that same ride again by myself a week ago, about the time I hit lake oreville I noticed my tires starting to peel pieces of rubber, both front and back. I had to force myself to take it easy the rest of the way.

What time do you think you would be back in Reno?

wills

The last time we did this route, we were back at 5:00, but we left at 9:45. The long range forecast is wet Sunday, dry Saturday so it might be a Saturday ride. I will update as the weekend approaches and the weather forecast firms up. It's that time of year when the weather gets unpredictable.  :-\

First of all, brrrr.  Second, that's a long-arse ride.  Something like 350 miles.

And for those who've never ridden with Wills, it's pretty much like <this>.....................................................................j/k.   Enjoy the ride.
It's about taking in the most corners to your destination, not about the shortest, quickest route.

I resemble that remark!

I put my heated gloves wiring harness on, no cold hands this time! Looks like Saturday will be the warmest so how about Saturday? I will be at Starbucks about 9:00 am.

Just a "FYI" guys.......A fellow Hayabusa rider and I did the La Porte Rd ride this past Saturday (7 hours, 333 mile round trip from Carson City). Just before you hit the Quincy city limits heading west on hwy 70, the La Porte Rd turnoff is to the left. This road is 25 miles of nothing but the BEST twisties in the entire west, IMO! Done it twice this year and only encountered two, maybe three cars the entire route on each occasion. My other riding bros also say it's the best they have ever ridden!

Been on LaPorte many happy times. You can also get to Oroville on Laporte Rd., we did that a few weeks ago.

You guys missed out. Perfect weather, a little "breezy" on the way home starting in Sierraville. We ate lunch in Oroville outside, 70 degrees and sunny. There won"t be many good days left so get out while you can. I am heading to northern CA next weekend for a weekend of riding on roads where you might see 1 or 2 cars.
