Riders keep your guard up for the kids! Aug 14 2008 GEORGE BUSH signed into law with CPSIA (Consumer Procuct Safety Improvement Act) to address dangerous levels of lead found in childrens toys, includung childrens motorcycles and ATVs. This ACT banned the sale of these motorcycles and ATVs specifically childrens models. Thanks to AMA and parents that  sent over 70,000 e-mails and letters to Congress CSPC(Consumer Product Safety Commisssion) issued a 2 year stay of enforcement. This ACT remains to be a threat. We are not out of the woods yet! Cause and effect. We I mean us buy cheap Chinese made toys that contain lead and in effect the Federal Gov. puts to law CPSIA to protectect consumers from buying childrens toys wich contains lead. The intension is good however creates a negative consequence to childrens riding rights. Since 2005 ATV manufacturers had been lobbiying for safety standards for ATVs sold in the U.S.comming  mostly from China. I have one of those Wang Chung from Kragen that s total peice of ----! Help if you can. Most of our SSA Tracl Day Instructors and A Group riders started riding at an early age. So lets do our part to protect our childrens ridinbg rights. You can find contact informationfor your elected officials at American Motorcyclist.com.Go to Rights>Issues&Legislation, and enter your zip code in the "Find Your Officials"box. You promise, but what about the kid?? As adults, we have to look out for the best interests of children. Your old, and smart, enough to know better, but what about that three year old? I am not a guy who usually stands by government restrictions, but I have a question, why not just make/buy/promote toys that don't contain dangerous levels of lead or anything else that is obviously harmful to children?? I don't get it........sorry.  :-\

If you actually look at where the dangerous levels of lead are, then you might think otherwise. Some of the places they are concerned with are inside the cylinder, and the paint on the wheel hubs. I believe its going to be very difficult to try to chew on those parts. I could understand if it was on the bodywork or somewhere easily reached. And are they any circumstances of children getting sick from eating their motorcycles?

There have been dangerous lead levels in TONS of recent childrens toys, as well as the packaging.
When governments get large, they lose the ability to adapt and be flexible.  It's true everywhere.
It's called Bureaucracy

There is no government or political party i know that doesn't have it.

If that is the case then I agree with you. I was just saying it makes sense to me if there are dangerous levels of lead in something that is made for kids to play on/with, it seems like a logical idea to try and limit that exposure to them in a reasonable way. It's a slippery slope, I do realize that.

Don't know. Good question.
