Wow this is so Tragic. I hope you can see why you must have Safety precautions. Remember this too, If you think it's not safe to put your safety in someones hands. If you think it's not safe don't do it. Because It can happen to you.

Well said, Jerome. . .

It is very, very easy to be killed.

I read an article on Adverse Factors COAF Combination Of Adverse Factors. A higher level of awareness.  And when I learned about the traggedy, I thought how could they let this happen? You would think an engineer would have considered this possibility. Well a lot of safety is lost in the arena of compromise. After the accident, they put up a wall to cover those beams, a life lost as a motivator to take action.  They should have practiced COAF.Bottom line is velocity has endless potential. As active riders we will not die from physical deteroation from sloth one of the seven deadly sins, and that is good news to me
MOTOISM my desease from wich there is no cure.

JFC....not another one of these  >:( It wasn't the crash that killed him. It was decelerating from 90mph to ZERO in a millisecond that killed him. No amount of DRESS would have saved this guy.

This track was certified by several different governing bodies, as well as the olympic committee.  Many thousands of runs were made.  It is impossible to prevent all accidents.
Ultimately every rider, every sledder, every athlete can opt out due to 'danger' or if they deem it too risky.

If we try to prevent all incidents, injuries and deaths, we can start by eliminating little league baseball, as that has the highest mortality of any youth sport.

What do you think draws people to these sports.
Take the risk out of it, and and you're left with chess.

Also, He died because his aorta was torn from his heart when his heart flew towards his ribcage...
No protective clothing could have prevented his death.

Interesting this topic has come up... I thought about asking you guys if we could have a thread that deals with the reality of riding bikes.  I think we sould all watch videos like this...
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=841_1263038363
before we leave the house on sunday...
I can here it now,  "He was driven like an idiot," or "I have been ride for so long and I have so much experience," bla bla bla...
Thats what I like about this vid is I cannot understand the words being spoken (no story or opinion), the discription is short and true.  It shows the truth how dangrous bikes can be for more people than just the rider.
Sounds morbid but when I watch that vid I put my self in that guys high end suit, top of the line boots, helmet, back pertector, gloves and it even looks like a GSXR (as I) and put my closest riding bros in my imagination in the place of the people making the 911 calls or calling the wife or listening to the guys chest to see if they hear a heart beat.............
     BKRBLOOD is right but still....
its not if your gonna crash its when...
Judge me if you must but I think if someone doesn't agree with me thats exactally why I think a thread of videos just like this sould be FRONT PAGE.....

Josh that was actually a 2004 R1. And that is why we ride at the track. Not likely to T-bone a car at the track.

That's not a t-bone.  This is the most common of all moto-auto accidents.
The car made a left in front of the rider, but the rider was going very quickly.
There is a huge amount of front end damage to the car, his bike is destroyed and it was thrown up and over the sedan.  Fast riders get thrown large distances on impact (unless they are slowed by the car, as he was in this case) The passenger (unresponsive) was in her 60's with family in the car.  There car slowed quickly after impact.  They were going very slowly.   The motorcyclist collided with the car in the right front quarter panel. The front wheel of the bike remains with the car.  The rider was thrown into the windshield and roof, perhaps being pushed by the rest of his bike.  Both he and the bike cleared the car, coming to rest about 10 meters from the point of impact.
Josh,
My teknic suit are the same colors, and that could be Jerome or Alberto calling my wife.

I once started a thread on "safety tips" that was a collection of 'wisdom from the road'  I don't recall if we made it a 'sticky,' but maybe you can start one on this new SSA b-board.
