I almost got taken out by careless driver in an SUV running a red light. I was making a left on So. Virginia to 395 So. bound onramp and this guy just blows a left turn RED light. He was going way too fast to avoid his action. I grabbed the brake lever (equally proportioned front rear anti lock) and flicked to the right. That RT 1200 can really turn under hard braking and the front end didn't dive wich made the manuvuer succesfull. Close call! Riding at night adds risk. The thought that occured after anger and gratittude to God, was" I have ran red lights before also".

I almost got taken out the same way wed night coming back from the SSA Board meeting. I was on 395 on Indian Hills when a guy blew the stop sign out of in and out. He came across all 3 lanes and just about ran me into the curbing on the island. Broke hard and started to head right when he YANKED it back to the right (and bounced off the curb itself) and almost hit me TWICE! Damn drunk drivers  >:(

...but weren't you impressed??  Come on.  Those were some cool moves.  Tell me you weren't impressed.

You see,

when you're in a cage goin fast, you have purpose and other people need to take notice and stay the hell out of YOUR way.  That extra minute saved running red lights really adds up over a lifetime and so what if you kill a few people along the way.  They're dead and you're still important...perhaps why you're drinking and driving in the first place.

------------------------------------------------------

I try to keep my level of importance to cagers in mind.  The significance of my life is low on their priority list, so I make every effort to stay well off their radar.

Stay safe.

It's about taking in the most corners to your destination, not about the shortest, quickest route.

Glad you guys survived.  I'm thankful that you had the skill and presence of mind to pull off those evasive moves safely.

"Stay safe" is right!

Im glad that you guys lived to tell your stories.  Its these type of stories that gives my wife her reasoning  for not letting my get a street bike.  She isnt worried about my abilities.  Its the other idiots with 4 or more wheels that she is concerned about.

Testify!
There are a few very, very skilled riders here that WOULDN'T ride a sportbike on the street.
Track it.

Mean Street's: Stupid, careless, wreckless, cell phones, drunkeness, texting, the list of hazards keep's growing.

Im going to add to your list of mean streets and this one is probably the most common:  Lack of Motorcycle awareness!!!

I havent ridden a street bike for probably almost 20 years.  But................. When ever I encounter one on the streets I pay special attention to what they are doing, where they are going, and how fast they are getting there.  Its the only way to ensure a STUPID motorcycle rider doesnt end up under the bumper of my rather large pickup truck.  Smart riders are easy to pick out.  They dont hide in your blind spot intentionally or not, they dont tail gate, and they give bigger vehicals a wide birth.  They also dont split lanes whether its legal or not.
