FYI, 20 has a nice new coat of asphalt going west bound. By this friday they made it all the way to Nevada City from Hwy 80 off ramp. Starting today (or monday if they don't work weekends) the road will be closed to one lane in spots as they make their way back east for the other lane. Watch for big asphalt haulers and other equipment.

I'll see you guys on 89 just north of the 80 off ramp. How will I know its the SSA ride other than a group of (mostly) sportbikes headed north? And what's the protocol, just hop on the back as you pass by?

You'll know because there will be many many people in full leathers. What color leathers/bike will you have?
The sweeper could easily give you the signal. Where I used to sit was the off ramp of 80. They had to slow down and gave me time to finish a cigarette and put my helmet on. (No shade though)
Yes, just hopping on the back works best. . . the designated sweeper may ask you to move in front of him/her.

I met with a friend of mine and did that ride today. The 20 going to Nevada City is complete and there was no construction at all. The 49 has a lot of rock slide areas and some has been swept up. I played golf a few times with the pine cones in the middle of the road, think I did 4 over Par. LOL
p.s.
I saw 7 police cars on my route, only one being on the 80, so I hope we got a scannerman out there with us
