Hello my fellow riders. My name is Allen also known as Shadow from Lethal Riders MC. I'm wondering if you all have heard about the proposed "No tampering law" over here in California? Well we've been fighting this now for 2 years and we're down to the wire. This law, in most of our opinions is rediculous and doesn't need to exsist. So we're doing what we can to bring awareness to us fighting for our rights. I know this doesn't effect you in Nevada.....yet, and hopefully never will. But, you never know. What one State picks up, others try to follow. So what I'm asking of you all is to give us a hand in calling ALL riders to show up to our Capitol (Sacramento) on their bikes (of all types) for a show of hands that we are here to fight for our rights. So if you have friends here in Cali that ride, we definately could use their help and yours if you feel like making the journey.

Thank You.

Here is a flyer for this event

Here is a little more info I dug up real quick for you.

On June 28, 2010, SB-435 passed out of the Assembly Transportation Committee.  Quite simply, ABATE of California did not have the votes to kill a heavily amended SB-435 at the time of the hearing, although the incredible response from motorcyclists around the State and even across the country was certainly noticed by the Committee members.  Thanks to everyone who made phone calls and sent the letters and e-mails we had requested.  It really does make a difference.

The final vote was 8 to 4.  Regardless, SB-435 as a "smog bill" is dead, and has been since it passed out of the Senate last year.  Unfortunately, less than a month before the bill was to be heard, Senator Fran Pavley amended SB-435 into an EPA noise label match-up bill.  Even with a limited amount of time, ABATE of California was able to effectively remove the most unfriendly and anti-motorcycle language from the bill.

The major concession we were able to achieve was that all motorcycles currently on the road will be grandfathered in (the imposition of SB-435 was originally set for 2011, but after testimony by the representative from the California Motorcycle Dealers Association, the Committee appeared willing to push it out to 2012).

Additional concessions are that it will be a 'fix-it' ticket instead of a moving violation with a point on the motorcyclist's driving record and the fine has been reduced from $300 to $25.

SB-435 is still a long way from becoming law.  It is scheduled to be heard in the Assembly Appropriations Committee in August and still has to go back to the Senate Housing & Transportation Committee for reconciliation since the amended version of SB-435 is not the bill that passed out of that Senate Committee last year.

At this point, ABATE of California has assumed a neutral position, with the understanding that the concessions made by Senator Pavley and the Transportation Committee will remain intact as the bill moves forward.  If changed, ABATE of California will revert to a strongly opposed position on SB-435 and the bill would need to return to the Assembly Transportation Committee.

What is the bill wanting to do? I don't see it. Maybe I'm just blind. ???

Thanks for keeping us up to date. Usually what California does. Nevada tries to follow. So please keep us posted. ;) ;) You have a friend on this side of the mountain.

This planet needs to have a huge reduction in population. California is a case of inbreeding liberal swine who call themselves "open minded" but only if you believe in what they do. Vote them out of office, stand up to their stupid policy machine and fight for logic.

This is a smog check for motorcycles. Yet another lever of government intrusion and fees.

Why don't we really save the planet and start letting Darwinism thin the herd? Put the planet back into equilibrium and let a liberal die of natural causes. Then we can enjoy the productivity of those who contribute. Since CO2 is the major greenhouse gas, if every person just used their hands to strangle one liberal for imposing their will on you, just imagine what a better world it could be.

Yes, I am angry as I've been in Canada for a few weeks now on business and it reminds me of why I left. The once great nation that is the USA is being destroyed. How can anyone not see that places like California are screwed virtually beyond repair because of their government and this is the model people follow?  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Jason calm down. It'll be OK.  The Tea Party has decided to let you vote.  It's illegal but they going to save the nation from everyone but them selves.

Oh boy.

I take great notice of the fines involved/ more regulation= more fines collected.

A brand new way to tax.

Washington hunting and fishing laws are a great example of this. The majority of poaching invovles ahhh people who are not legal citizens, this has been known for years. In order to pay for all the enforcement of these regulations the Game Warden population must go up, therefore the cost. (seems like a nonconnected example?)

More fines in new areas create revenue, until you need to enforce new regualtions which leads to more spending....it just goes on and on.

California is an outstanding exaple of this cycle. Which is why I do not care to support any of that State.

I quit hunting and fishing in Washington when the price of a license went to 20.00. I think to hunt deer and Elk this year it is like 125. There is no way to stop all this except for the great stateof California to go bankrupt.

Once the Great State of California goes bankrupt, there will be many committees examining the cause.

Nevada is still a great place to live, so far...... common sense seems to prevail.

This bill started out as a proposed smog bill, as it continued to get amended it slowly filterred into a "No Tamper" bill. The complaint now is because of loudness, they say. So as of now if this bill gets passed, starting 2011 you will have to run your bike with what it comes with. No tampering.

Thank you  for having a site that we can openly share this kind of info..

Ha, ha. I wish I could but unlike the lefties out there, those of us who love the country don't employ ACORN tactics. Everyone on the left makes the TEA party out to be crazy when really they just want America to be America. If you don't like it, there are lots of socialist countries out there, go live in one. The constitution MUST be followed. Honestly, every politician who votes for a new BS unnecessary law should be taken into court.

Our current President has stated that he believes the constitution is fundamentally flawed. How was he allowed to become president? We've been nice to the left too long and I've lived through what happens when you give them an inch. Come on America, let's reverse this madness. Become the great nation again.

The short end of it is that California is proposing a move to essentially tagged stock exhaust systems for a multitude of reasons. They cite noise but there are already laws for that so like a typical liberal, forget logic and enforcing the existing law, just write more.

Ever been to Australia? Over there they MUST have their DOT tagged factory systems. Of course, if you crash you can imagine the cost of factory parts. Factory parts costs are already high because there is no competition since, obviously only one factory makes them. Insurance must return to factory so they have built in sales. When government mandates this kind of crap you again have guaranteed sales so costs go up not down since the market has to bear it. Those who don't believe in capitalism would argue otherwise but like all liberal arguments, they're based in fiction not fact. The propagation of this kind of evil must be stopped. We must override this liberal push to not discuss "politics" as it is only through debate that the truth is seen. We need to think on conditionality broad term not just one law that sounds good to some.

Want an example of madness? I'm in Canada on business and just the other day heard about a fellow being charged with child molestation. The catch is that he took photos of it while on vacation in Asia and now he is being charged on a child molestation charge when the child was not Canadian nor ever even been here. The act was committed in another country. Now, I am all for seeing this sick bastard get what is coming to him but is the Canadian government really right in prosecuting him? No, it was not done in Canada so beyond child porn laws it is not the Canadian taxpayers' responsibility. I hope he gets his due but I really hope they extradite him or something as the government is overstepping its bounds. I understand it seems good on the surface but like most bleeding heart notions, it puts you on a slippery damn slope.

Come on Jason. Sarah Palin said that crap. I don't believe anything that  tea party has to say. ( here we go again let's remember its all still in fun nothing personal) If you don't like the way it's going you can move to. They only tell you 1/2 of the truth. Never believe anyone who can only find the negative. According to them he's done everything wrong.

NO getting back to the post.  I remember Nevada was trying to do that a little while ago and it never made it. I'm all for leaving us alone. It's true if you follow the law you seem to pay for all the ones who don't. I wish we could find a way to make it right.  But I don't hunt so why should I pay for something having to do with hunting? It sucks for sure. But if it will benefit us. Then I guess I'll just have to pay my taxes.

My $00.02 cents.

official mod request: Let's keep the talk to the bill and not about Palin, Obama or tea parties. These can just dissolve into endless and pointless debates. BARF and I am sure SCR has places that allow this.
