My back tire is toast, the front is still decent. Should I get a new back and run the front or just by a new set? I'm running PP 2ct's.

Also where should I buy?

If your front is still good, no need to replace. Note: Just because the tread looks good doesn't always mean the tire is still good. Heat cycles can kill a tire's traction abilities. So it really depends on what you are doing with it. Just moderate street riding, your probably fine. But is your an aggressive street rider or a track guy, use caution if your not getting new front and rear.
As for a place to get them I would ask 2wcp, SPL or check this guy's thread and ask him. nhe just recently posted a deal he was giving to SSA members on tires. Hope that helps.  :)

Thanks, I guess I'll just get a set. Better to be safe! But now I'm wondering if I should stick with the pp2ct's or try a new flavor...

btw, on an 08 cbr1000, so far street only but hoping for a track day soon, fairly aggressive riding style in the turns.

All look like good tires, I guess I'll just go for whatever is a hot deal.

If you've never done a track day, you're pretty safe to rule out a pace hot enough to heat cycle damage a tire on the street. Just buy a new rear and you're good to go. Most guys will get 2 rears to a front on the street, sometimes more.

I put the Roadsmart, sport touring on my CBR and they turn as good as any sport tire I had previously mounted. I am hoping for some more miles.
I got the set shipped to my door for $251.
Here is the website, but I always call him. He drop ships them from CA and it takes2 days to receive them.http://www.motoxoutlet.com/

Tahoebrian5 you have gotten a lot of good advice here.  I usually run 2 rears to 1 front on the street.

When I'm on the track I usually toast them at the same time.  How many miles did you get out of that rear?

Also I usually get about 5k out of a rear.  You just don't crank the throttle until you wear out the sides first. Then really crank it on when you leave the line. Otherwise you usually wear out the center before the tire is gone.  But that's just me. You have to buy those tires not me.  ;) Happy motoring

Thanks everybody for the comments and advice. I decided to just go with a rear as I'm pretty sure extreme heat cycling has not happenned.

I went with Brian of SPL and should have the tire back on the bike tonight!

Thanks to Brian for giving me a great deal!

And to A Dragon, you must have an extremely high level of restraint to keep your hand out of the throttle for that long!

I must ride like sh*t!!

I go through 1 1/2 fronts for every rear, the direct opposite of you guys.  Maybe I need to steer more from the back.  Is that it?
It's about taking in the most corners to your destination, not about the shortest, quickest route.

You mean you leave the front on the ground?  :D

Seriously though, I've never heard of a front wearing out before a rear. Although some old school standards do like to cup fronts pretty badly due to weight distribution and geometry.

my fronts go out because I brake really hard and transfer a lot of weight to it. Upping the PSI has helped with that.
