Cyclegear is having some sort of sale this Thursday.

I'm on the email list and thought I'd share this.

$350 is pretty darn cheap for a 1pc leather suit.

Just as a reference, every "cheap" leather suit I have seen in person doesn't hold up well in a crash. If you can't afford to buy a good quality suit new, I would seriously just look for a suit that is known to have good quality that someone is selling used. Your $350 will go a lot further. I've had my Taichi suit for 4 years now and it's still in good shape considering I've crashed in it like 7 or 8 times....  8)

Agreed. You can't escape the old addage of 'you get what you pay for'. But, if the only thing holding back a first timer from getting out on the track is lack of leathers this could be the ticket.

Racer mentality for sure. When I crash frequently enough that 7-8 are in a time frame small enough to do it in the same suit, I'm giving up riding. :D

I hear ya. And I'm not meaning to shoot your suggestion down. I know your just trying to help. I'm just saying you'll get more bang for your buck if you buy a used good suit for $350 vs. a new cheap suit for $350. You can find un-crashed, used, good leather suits out there for that kind of money. I hope that makes sense.

Jason, maybe you should learn to push harder.  ;D

I can't believe you've never heard of Frank Thomas! We all know how much baseball and motorcycle leathers have in common!!  :)

FYI, Frank Thomas is an OK track day suit. It is somewhat heavy and the fit may have some binding spots. BUT, for trying out the track they are fine and I have seen them crashed. The quality isn't bad. It's just the leather choice. It's a bit cheaper and therefore has to be thicker. That is what makes them heavy and hot. Not popular with racers, but as I said, it will get you to a track day. As with many of these suits, they will crash once or twice, and then they need to be thrown away.

If you have a bit more coin, I got the Laguna Seca Dianese for $690 there. Dub has the same set and they are comfy as hell. I'm not planning in crashing in these though. I crashed out my $1200 leathers and don't want to make a habit of it LOL

I make it a point to try and stay within 80% of what I think I can do. Too many ass chewing the seat moments are not fun and crashing is expensive and painful. If I ever get back to lots of saddle time I'll remember how to go a little quicker. :-[

You make a good point on the leathers though.

I had a pair of Dainese for my first one piece suit way back in the early 90's. They have forever ruined me for comfort as nothing else comes close. Not really an AFM sort of crash in them a bunch brand though. Some nurse cut those off me.  >:( Of course, in those days if you crashed the question was "how is the bike" and now it is a little different.

I agree you can't go wrong with good leathers. But to start out. Get what ever you can. Till you can find what you want. We've all wasted money on cheap accessories for our sport.  They'll hold up better than jeans and a T-Shirt.  Dud did good on his first pair.

Yo Diggity. Still Good advice if you can find some used. Do it!!!!!
