Texas Hold'em Charity Tournament

Have you guys ever put together a Texas Hold em tournament and maybe have one of the local bike shops put prizes together with funds going to a local children's charity? Just a thought....How many of us play ?? Maybe getting together with the other SB groups too??

I think something along the lines of all of us getting together for food, fun and charity sounds like a good idea. We would just have to figure out how many players, where to have the event and how to go about getting someone to be dealer and getting enough chip and cards for everyone...maybe renting them???

If we could get enough people, I'd be down. I have some chips. Probably not enough for more than like 5 or 6 people though.

I say buy a toy (or something a child could use) and get chips for it's value for the buy in.

Personally, I like charities that take items like this instead of cash. Hard to buy a trip to the bahamas with a GI Joe LOL

i agree with you there, but there still needs to be a competitive goal so everyone isn't going all in all the time.
id say if theres enough people interested everyone "buys in" with say $20 worth of toys than maybe a shop can donate a fork oil change or a windscreen or something.

hint hint I need a double bubble and a fork oil change!

players buy in with a toy, dealers donate a prize to the winner of the tourney.

Put a minimum toy value on the buy in, and then divide up the values of all the toys among the players equally (or just fix the chips at some arbitrary value). If someone wants to bring a bigger toy, they will have the satisfaction of a nice gift going to a good cause, and the same chips as the rest. Winner takes the donated dealer prize.

Ok, so Toys as "buy in" ... Dino to deal...and some riders from SBK board are in to play also... Someone suggested Toys for Tots. This will give us a month or two to get things set up... Now for location ?? Anyone have ideas??

If we have enough people to play, we may need 2 tables.... I can check on renting them..

If we do someone's home how would you guys like to do food,etc ??

I will call around for some ideas I have.

I already have someone willing to donate a new pair of riding gloves and I see what else we can get donated.
