Yes folks that's right.  Over 14 years of legal street riding and I got my first ticket on a motorcycle tonight.   :fail :fail :fail :fail
Was on my way down from VC to Carson on the truck route and the Sheriff was on he way back home I'm guessing.  Anyhow I got a 45mph in a 35mph.  Actually I'm glad that's all he got me for.  I actually thought I was going the speed limit.  He was nice enough to tell me that all the way up to VC to the bottom stop sign is ALL 35mph.  That's what he said to me, so don't shoot the messenger.  Anyhow not a big ticket only $77 total.  The actual ticket was only $30 but the rest was admin fees.  It must take a few hours to put my name in a computer  ;)

PS.
I tried doing the rest of the route below 35mph, holy crap that is difficult.  I even shut off my engine, and I still couldn't stay below 35mph. LOL  But seriously I did!

Bumped into some other bikers that thought it was 45 like me, someone even thought that there was a 55mph area.  Nope...only at the fork at the bottom when you head out to Carson is when it get's to 45.
Lesson learned.  Even if you think you know the speed limit, look at the freaking posted signs every once in a while  ;D

Welcome to the club!! Tickets are one of the reasons I don't ride much on the street anymore (beside riding the Ruckus) :rainday

:D That's funny.....the shutting your bike off thing, not the ticket......so wait. You didn't get a ticket when you were caught riding your track bike on the street??

Well as I told her tonight that I think that ticket is a rural area ticket and there is no points.

we talked about that monday night and we didn't know the exact NRS at the time for Rural Speeding. But the officer told her he clocked her at that within city limits at the top. So we thought that option might be out (even pleading to have it changed in court to that).

IMO you got off light.  Consider yourself lucky the penalty was so light.  I wasn't that lucky and I only was 7 over!

AND...better you than me!  :evil1
It's about taking in the most corners to your destination, not about the shortest, quickest route.

Sorry to hear about your cherry!

The CHP caught me on radar going 93 in a 65, wrote me up for 80+.  It cost me $222.  I am a commercial driver and can't do traffic school here in California.  So now I do occasional group rides and track days.

He said that he clocked me withing city limits, but was gonna give me a county violation.  So talking to Ted I looked it up.

I did get it in a rural area, BUT  I was not within the statute limits of speed.  I was in a 35, too slow I guess for their rule.  I called the sheriff's office, the following are NOT examples, but rules.

NRS 484B.617  Certain violations of speed limit in rural areas: Fines; Department not to record violation on driver's record; violation not deemed moving traffic violation.

     1. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 3, a person driving a motor vehicle during the hours of daylight at a speed in excess of the speed limit posted by a public authority for the portion of highway being traversed shall be punished by a fine of $25 if:

     (a) The posted speed limit is 60 miles per hour and the person is not exceeding a speed of 70 miles per hour.

     (b) The posted speed limit is 65 miles per hour and the person is not exceeding a speed of 75 miles per hour.

     (c) The posted speed limit is 70 miles per hour and the person is not exceeding a speed of 75 miles per hour.

     2.  A violation of the speed limit under any of the circumstances set forth in subsection 1 must not be recorded by the Department on a driver's record and shall not be deemed a moving traffic violation.

     3.  The provisions of this section do not apply to a violation specified in subsection 1 that occurs in a county whose population is 100,000 or more if the portion of highway being traversed is in:

     (a) An urban area; or

     (b) An area which is adjacent to an urban area and which has been designated by the public authority that established the posted speed limit for the portion of highway being traversed as an area that requires strict observance of the posted speed limit to protect public health and safety.

     (Added to NRS by 1997, 2524; A 1999, 572, 1711)—(Substituted in revision for NRS 484.3685)

I know, usually this is something to brag about.  LOL.
I do believe I came out of it a lucky beaver though, so I did a little research. I do have to take traffic school, and thankfully I can and also pay the $77 and be on my way.
