Post here if you are going.*  See the SSA Ride Schedule and SSA Ride Maps for details.

* As always, you are not obligated to complete the entire distance if it doesn't fit into your schedule or riding abilities.  Please let a ride leader know how far you plan on riding.  This will help keep the ride safe for everyone and prevent circling, looking for a missing rider.   :|)  It has never happened, but we have to ask.  ;)
It's about taking in the most corners to your destination, not about the shortest, quickest route.

FYI GM, as of yesterday Quincy- La Porte rd was impassable due to snow.  We tried to take it in the opposide direction (north) from La Parte to Quincy and got turned around just about 4 miles after passing through La Porte, about here

You're kidding!?  Snow still covering the road?  That's not very far in either.  I hope your group was able to stop in time without a snowy incursion.

So which way did you guys return?  I'm thinking 49?

:D I may cancel the ride in favor of something more favorable, say VC.

Yeah, it made our loop into an out and back. :(  There was a road closed sign and cones across the road.  We sent a scout up around the bend and he reported back that there was a downed tree blocking the road, followed by snow as far as he could see.

We actually came back like this.

Late snow has kept a couple of roads here closed (mostly above 6,000 ft.) later than usual. Gold Lake Rd. is still blocked at the staging area. They're still snowmobiling  :o
Ride with immaculate sanity.

GreenMachine

Gold Lake loop too?

Does anybody know if Hwy 162 is open yet?  Certainly, that's open???

The CA road conditions website makes no mention of it being closed.

from the website...

NO TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS ARE REPORTED FOR THIS AREA.

I'm definately in for this ride whether it's la porte or 162.. or both knowing GM

I will try to get up there today and report back tonight. Keep your fingers crossed..

Ok, made it up there today and they were working on the last few yards of Bucks lake (162) when I pulled up. 10 min later it was officially open. A couple of bikes came through the other side. It's dirty on top but hopefully the traffic from tomorrow and Sat will help. The workers said they were going to send the "blower" through today as well. La Port was said to still be closed aprx 14 miles or so from Quincy. Gold Lake is open and surprisingly VERY clean  ;D  I'm thinking maybe 49 through Downieville over to 162. Into Quincy, down Gold Lake, over Yuba Pass on 49 and home. What do guys and gals think?

Bigcat, you are a Saint!   :angel

You stole the words right out of my mouth.  I'll adjust the calendar and thread title to match.  Brian sounds like he's ready for either ride.  Only, I'll need to get he straight on front-end rubber so he can make 300+ miles.

That will be a good ride.  Sad I can't make it this week.

What about much thanks to me for warning of your impending route failure?   :justkidding

Seriously though, that sure was nice of BigCat to scout a new route for this week's ride.
