Came home last evening after Bike Night to do some odds and ends in my garage.  I opened the door to my truck and saw what appeared to be a spider running across the ground towards my feet.  No wait, it has a tail at it's back and is quite long.  That thing is very fast and I just walked past it in my Tevas.   :terrified I know what that is, it's a small poisonous scorpion.  I motioned to stomp on him, but he saw what I was up to and fled.  I missed squashing him by about an inch.  Damn it!

Now I have a scorpion problem in my garage!  :rant

keep it as a pet...he'll help control other problems in your garage :)

Do they eat mice too?  I think I'll take the mice, over stepping on this critter.  I walk around a lot in my bare feet and typically in the dark.  Not during the warm months apparently.  :|)

You might have seen a Solifugae or Camel Spider....they resemble scorpions. Seen a few around the house.

Not venomous, runs at up to 10 MPH and has jaws that can leave a painful bite.  I could live with that little critter.  He's more scary than harmful to me.  I'm still going to dig around in the corner where he ran off to last night to see if he's still hanging around in my garage.

Did you ever find them to run at you and do you think they come out on a seasonal basis? I'm concerned of the little SOB running up my clothes without me feeling him.  I don't want and eye to eye encounter and doubt that would be how they act.  But the stories about their strong biting power and speed have me a little on edge.

GM, I would only really become nervous when it reaches this size LOL

But no...never had a problem with them other than the occasional late night encounter in the garage and then it ran off faster than I did :)

I recall a couple times having one (camel spider) follow me to the chow line in Kuwait. I was only there for a couple weeks though. They like to run in your shadow, cause the sand is cooler there.

Hee hee it was the f@#$^&n rats that bugged me.

Get a black light.  IIRC scorpions are green under a black light.
