Only 6 rides remaining in the 2011 SSA ride season.

Post here if you are going.  This is a North Ride.  It is a slow technical ride once on MRR, but otherwise mostly superslab going to and from.  I'd rate this ride as a B level ride, but a cautious C pace rider would find this ride fun and challenging.

We'll want to start early, so the start time will be 8:00AM.  The sierra foothills where part of this ride resides will be blazing hot down low and cooler as we climb up into the mountains.  An early start means we won't be roasting in the afternoon heat unnecessarily.  We may even stop for a brief hike, like a couple hundred feet.

It's about taking in the most corners to your destination, not about the shortest, quickest route.

And this would have been the easiest of the three hikes so far this year.

Overslept, missing today's ride.  Sorry folks.  Hope you all have a great ride without me.

After yesterday's hike/ride and running out to watch TTP, I was understandably a little tired.  Slept all the way through the alarm this morning, but I feel GREAT now.   :D

Decided to go for a short spin to compliment the VC runs I've been doing lately.  Downieville was the destination for a leisurely out and back.  When I made Downieville emergency vehicles where just heading out.

The rider was eastbound on 49, probably around 5PM  last night and overcooked the 15 MPH downhill hairpin, hitting either the guardrail or concrete barrier. This turn is part of a tight canyon section about 12 miles west of Downieville. The bike was near-on completely destroyed. No idea about the condition of the rider(s). There weren't any riders being treated and no other bikes were present, just Sheriff and fire crews spreading dirt on the oil spill and directing traffic around the corner.

Ride safe everyone!   :-\
