Thanks all for the great ride. Right up to part when I ran out of gas. Somebody forget to tell me that Markleeville does not have any gas. Damm. Thanks Dave for going to Minden for a gas can for me. My Aprilia gets right at 170.6 miles to the tank. We waited for you guys to come back over the hill. You left us their all alone. See you next ride.

Damn.  Sorry KKM.  There was definitely a miscommunication.  I don't like leaving riders when I don't know they've made it home safely.  When SparkyGixxer and I took a lap, I was under the assumption that everyone knew we would come back, but we were only doing one lap.  I feel terrible knowing you ran out of gas.  I could have helped you on that because I had several extra gallons left that I would have gladly shared.

Thanks DR for saving the day.  I've never known Markleeville not to have gas at that self serve pump, so that's a surprise to me too, but not half as detrimental surprise as you probably felt.   I definitely owe you and DR lunch or drinks.  Your choice.  Not that that will make up for leaving you two stranded.  I hope you'll forgive my error in judgement.

Glad you both made it back safe.

I just realized too that we've only had two rides this year and on both, one rider on each ride has ran out of gas.   Duly noted.

Anyway, here are the pics from today.

That does it. I will never ride through Markleeville again. Well till next weekend at least. M pass is sure in nice shape. Good fun today.

In years past when A Dragon would lead these rides he would make a point at the Monitor/I-395 junction to make an announcement to take whomever needed fuel up to Topaz, about 6 miles away.  As it turned out for us yesterday, Wills wanted to fuel up at Maverick in CC.  That made it perfect for the rest of our bunch, because we all could make it to/from Monitor and back to CC on the fuel load we had.  Part of the reason it never entered my mind to ask.

No, just did laps, in your honor, on Monitor.  I don't recall seeing signs that the pass was closed.  We saw trucks with camping trailers and motorcycles coming and going from up that way, so it may be that the pass is already open.

Why?  You looking to get your yellow bike wet and muddy today?

I could be... You not working? I spent all yesterday working on my bike to go to THill, went to sign up last night and they were sold out!! So I'm probly gonna ride somewhere today.

I wanted to pass this on to everyone, but in particular to n10sive.

In their wisdom, road crews have painted or glossed over stripes painted in the lanes of the east side (east bound) tight downhill 25 MPH 180* descending radius left hand turn (MAP).  Actually both directions have these stripes.  SparkyGixxer and I rode one after the other over them and slid pretty good across them.  Our lines going down through that corner were to apex the corner, as not to start too early and swing wide as the corner tightens.

Given that we were returning on a lap of Monitor, our tires were up to temperature.

Watch out for them.

I hate that corner to begin with. Guess they made it even trickier now :(
