This week's group ride is to what many call the best roads in the Sierras, Wentworth Springs Road.  It's kind of a trek getting there, better if you're from Sacramento, but I'd have to agree; wide, new and technical.

Let's get started at 9:00 AM (Topsy Ln, in CC & 8:00AM @Longley & S. Virginia St Chevron, Reno),.  The weather forecast is calling for a low in Reno of 64* and a high of 96*.  Gear up and pack accordingly, i.e. bring water to hydrate.  There are no facilities (food, water, gas) for 20 - 30 miles once we're there.  I'm taking my warm weather leathers on this ride.

And YES PLEASE, post up to let me know if you think you will be joining us.
All skill levels are welcome from beginner to expert.  The more the merrier.   We'll probably stop on our way out and have lunch in Georgetown.

I have some family visiting at the house; came in last night.  I think I'll probably need a break by Sunday morning so I'm going to try and sneak out for a quick ride.

Not sure how much of the route I can do.  Maybe I'll just keep heading home on 50 when you guys turn off on Ice House, or maybe I can make it up Ice House and turn around at Wentworth; not sure how much time I'll have.  Either way though, I would meet you guys at the intersection of hwy 88 and hwy 89 (where you would turn left to Burnside Lake).

I'll post up Saturday night if you can expect to see me there.

There is gas at Kirkwood, too, by the way.

I want to try to go.  How many hrs ride is it.....didn't make sense your map.  Really 4+hrs just to get there before heading home??  How many total hrs of a ride is it???

Wait a minute.

I thought the route from the Carson Starbucks was down 88, over Carson Pass, up Mormon Emigrant Trail to Pollock Pines, then a little jaunt up 50 to Ice House?

GM, your map has you just going up over Kingsbury, then all the way down 50 to Ice House.

Which route do you plan on leading?

Suzanne, count on it being an "all day" ride.  The ride time will vary depending on the exact route, the duration and frequency of stops and how you choose to head home from Georgetown.

We've often suggested riding the route as you've described, but when push came to shove, we've previously just taken hwy 50 to 'get there.'

So <here's the route> if we take the route Dub suggested.   I've ridden this route with the Jimbo's FOG group.  Mormon Immigrant Road was a lot more straight than curvy.  Fortunately, the lead Busa rode at the speed limit the whole way,  :angel b/c there was a sheriff parked in the trees on one of the main straights...perhaps waiting for someone to come along and open it up.

It doesn't matter to me.  I like riding, so adding 30-40 miles just means more riding enjoyment.

Count me in for sure.

I've never actually been on Mormon Emigrant Trail, so if it's not fun than eff it.

The 'straight down 50' route is fine with me.  In fact it's probably better for me because I will have the time to go all the way to Georgetown before I turn around.

Where is the meet-up for southern folks?  Starbucks on Topsy ln?  9 am in Carson or are you leaving Reno at 9 am?  I may actually ride down to Carson and meet you guys there just so I can get out of the house earlier.

Tell me where and when, I'll be wearing bells.  Ok, not actual bells, but I am a ding dong.  Bwahahahahaaha I crack myself up  :P

Hey GM, I have a noobie friend that is interested. Just started riding and is very slow. Think this will be a suitable ride to bring em along?

Looks like I'll be able to make it. I am happy to start earlier if everyone is up for it. Looking forward to seeing everyone. ;D
