IM FINALLY HOME!  :D ;D :D

Anyone down for some short post-work rides this week? I'm thinkin' meet at like 6 somewhere and be back within 2 hrs? I just want to meet people and the area. Not looking for particularly intense or quick rides yet...I still have a blown front fork and bad rear shock so I'm kinda Cadillac style right meow :). Speaking of...going to be doing bike work saturday (oil, forks, steering head bearing). Any one is welcome if they need a flat surface or tools! Hit me up if you have interest in riding or garage time  :)

Why not!  I've been doing more VC riding now than probably any year in the past.  Loving the BBQ up there as well.

We haven't formally said anything about our co-joined bike night at PJ's yet, but I need to get over there.  I think PJ's is already a month into it...I've just been busy with other things...might not make this Wednesday due to poker too, sooooo...  :-\

Not sure about riding this weekend even.   That overwhelmed with goings-on.  Could fit in some mid-week shorter rides up to 250 miles though.

I'm game - I've been to VC a few times this week, it's a fun ride.  The only thing going against me is the first service; my bike is just shy of 600 miles, so I need to get the first service done tomorrow.  Hopefully it's a same-day kind of thing.  Normally I like to do all of my own maintenance work, but I'm new to motorcycles and I'll pay to avoid the hassle of re-torquing all the bolts to the proper specs with lock tite.  :)

It would be nice to do a shorter evening ride and get to meet people in the group.

Im hearing Thursday as a possibility then? I agree with the short ride, I want to try to be home for the wife  ;D
Virginia City isnt horribly long...heck I'd be down to just go up the initial twisty section of geiger grade, take a brake, then cruise back down.
Again all paces welcome! I'll personally be staying on the low side of moderate with the poor condition of my suspension, faster guys are welcome to shift to the front

Thursday sounds good to me!  We could meet at the new Maverick station at the bottom of Geiger (corner of Geiger and Veteran's Parkway).  I look forward to finally meeting people in the group!

Ride and eat or just show-n-go?

Nothing wrong with doing a VC run via Tioga Pass, right TB5?

I prefer a show-n-go for this one, just cuz I want to get back home not too long after 8, but don't let that stop others from deciding on staying in VC for a bite to eat, as long as we keep track!
No clue Where Tioga pass is. I'm open to it but you would need to lead it.
Some of my work buddies may be coming. Tentative group size looks to be around 4-5. Let's make that Maverick station our meeting point. Show up about 545, kick stands up at 6?

Thursday at 5:45 at Maverick.  Got it.

I may be a few minutes late, but should be there by 6:00 PM for sure.  Before every VC ride, I like to warm my tires.  TB5 will attest, this is the best way <map here>.  :angel  But again, this will just be the route that I'll be taking to the Maverick gas station on Thursday.

lol.  Just a 654 mile shortcut from your house to the bottom of Geiger.
Thanks to Sidi|Motion Pro|Vortex|Carters|Shoei for the support in 2019

I think the 3-day ride through California and Oregon broke GreenMachine.  It's no longer possible to go on a ride that's less than 400 miles...   ;D

Nooooooo....  The Virginia City Smokehouse closes at 4pm.   :'(  I was looking forward to a quick tri-tip sandwich there, it's awesome.

See you guys at Maverick!  Looks like it will be hot, but should be mostly dry.

GreenMachine

Are you guys still going to ride, when it's starting to thunder out there?  It probably will remain dry, but a direct hit with a lightening strike will kill you.  Although looking at the current Interactive Weather Map, it appears that you may run into rain as well as lightening.
I can ride in rain, but lightening frightens me.  Gotta say I'm packing it in for this ride.  :hiding

Of course the only thunderstorm in the past 45 days happens the day we plan a ride...   :-\

The wind gets pretty intense on parts of Geiger when there is a storm rolling through, so I may sit this one out too (not to mention GreenMachine spooking me about lightning, lol).  We'll see what it looks like in 30 minutes...

I'm glad I went!  Aside from a couple of stray rain drops, the weather was pretty nice.  Thanks guys for my first group ride - I look forward to many more!
