SSA site has been offline several times recently

This is out of our control, because it is hosted elsewhere.  You never know if it's due to maintenance or a hung process that the admins need to clear up.

However, if you're typing in a post and the site goes offline, you should be able to recover what you've typed by using your browser's back arrow.  I know this works in Firefox.  Copy your post body content to your PC, like into WordPerfect/Word/Notepad.  Then when the site returns, you'll have lost very little.  This technique also works for long posts where the site's auto-logoff kicks you out.  That or with your "post" content displayed on the page, tell your browser to refresh after you have logged in again and browsed back to your post.  That works too.
