I know a lot of you use Country Companies for insurance as I do. There is a policy change that will affect those of you who attend trackdays. At your next renewal date ( a 6 or 12 month period) coverage is excluded for all vehicles owned or rented that are used at a track or course designed for racing or high performance driving, weather you are racing or not. This basically means you take your car or motorcycle to anything that might possible be considered a track or autocross course and you have NO/ ZERO coverage.

Country Companies was one of the last if not the last company to close this loophole. If you ask your insurance agent about this and he says you are covered trust me you should also ask him to send you a hard copy of the policy page stating that you are covered because you most likely are not.

That being said it's a shame so many bikes fall off the trailer on the way home from the track  ;)

Yes...shame about those loose latches and straps... :P

The way I see it, you are practicing safe riding tecnique which are useful on the street and save mone for the insurance industry as whole (repairs, medical etc). They should pay crash expenses ;)

Hey Catz, So if I dont renew for another 10 months, I should be covered for next seasons' trackdays right? If your working this week at all, let me know I have a couple questions for you

Make your track bikes "track only" like I did.  Use the money from your insurance premiums to purchase
a dual sport to cruise around the street or the trails. (which I just did)
Eric has the right idea.

Progressive says this:

EDIT :  NOT COVERED (oops left that part out)
bodily injury or property damage resulting
from any pre-arranged or organized:
a. racing;
b. stunting;
c. speed or demolition contest or activity;
closed course event, or in practice or preparation
for any such contest, activity, or event.
However, this exclusion does not apply to use
of a motorcycle for escorting participants in
charitable racing events;

I'm sure a trackday would be classified as a closed course event

not covered.
Load it up bring it home. "Crash" it some other time, when it's more convenient for you and your ins. company.  When your annual premium finally match the costs of the annual damage.  Drop your collision, and insure yourself, thereby making you ride slower and more safely on the road.
